Every comparison and “best” page on this site follows the same method, so you can judge how much weight to give it.

  1. Specifications come from the manufacturer. Cutting width, maximum length, force, tool compatibility, connectivity and software requirements are taken from the maker’s own product pages and manuals, and linked.
  2. Prices are a snapshot. We note the month a price was checked. Prices change; the retailer’s page is the truth.
  3. Software and subscriptions count. A machine is only as good as the software you have to use with it, so we compare what is free, what costs extra and what needs an account or an internet connection.
  4. Owner experience is summarised, not invented. Where we describe common problems or strengths, they come from the makers’ own support documentation and from patterns repeated across owner communities. We never present someone else’s experience as our own testing.
  5. We say what we have not done. Unless a page shows our own test cuts and photos, we have not tested that machine ourselves, and the page says so.
  6. No paid placements. No brand pays to be included or ranked.
